Are you a Data Analyst interested in working for a leading charity?

St Mungo’s is undertaking a major data strategy project aimed at cultivating a data-driven culture, where every team and department is empowered to leverage data effectively in their decision-making processes, aligning with the organisation’s overall objectives. This initiative will enable St Mungo’s to prioritise data usage in high-impact areas, driving greater value and efficiency across the charity.

As part of this data strategy project, the Data Analyst will join  the IT team to play a vital role in providing actionable insights derived from data to enhance decision-making. By utilising accurate and timely data, the Data Analyst will help leadership make informed decisions, reducing reliance on intuition and guesswork, and ensuring that our strategy and aims are grounded in data-driven insights.

Through the analysis of operational data, the Data Analyst will identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement, enabling St Mungo’s to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance performance. Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Translate technical data into actionable insights and prepare reports summarizing key findings and recommendations.
  • Create Power BI dashboards to present complex data in a clear format for diverse stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and models to ensure accurate, efficient data across systems.
  • Collaborate with analysts, DBAs, and stakeholders to align data-driven insights with business goals.
  • Develop processes to capture analysis requirements, define objectives, and assess data sources.
  • Support data quality and compliance through validation and audit reporting.
  • Recommend improvements for business processes and data workflows to optimise performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement by adopting new tools, industry trends, and best practices.

About you

We think this role will suit someone who can utilise their communication skills alongside data analyst experience to help improve a data driven culture across the organisation. If you see yourself in this role, you should demonstrate the below:

  • Experience of working in a Data Analyst or similar post with proven skills in the use of structured query language (SQL) for querying and manipulating data stored in databases, leveraging advanced MS SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Expertise in data analysis using Power BI, and experience with Python programming language.
  • Experience in data visualisation to deliver actionable insights and statistical models to represent data trends, forecasts, and relationships.
  • Knowledge and experience of ETL processing; extracting data from various sources, cleaning, transforming it into a usable format, and loading it into analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across different teams and levels of the organisation, and to translate complex data for a variety of people including non-technical stakeholders.

In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations.
